Mallards - Welney

This is a very delicate small picyure based on a photograph I took at Welney in the late afternoon 2018. I loved the image of a pair of mallard coming in to land with the light just catching them on an otherwise dull day.
 
I used drafting paper because it allows quite fine work but doesn't have a lot of tooth to play with in mixing and blending colours. This took hours of gently adding layers of colour (Faber-Castell Polychromos) to get the tones and hues I was looking for
